OOC, when used to mean Out of Character, is a term used by the role-playing community to denote that they are speaking or acting as themselves during a role-play episode. Out of character comments are usually indicated by the use of double parentheses or other punctuation.
If the player is speaking or acting as their character it would be referred as IC or In Character. This term is used denote that they are speaking or acting as their character would.
